Dr. D's approach to working with all of her clients is eclectic with the goal of meeting the client with exactly what they need. Her human-centered, strengths-based approach includes Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Much of Dr. D's experience has been in evaluation and assessment of a broad array of cognitive, developmental, and psychological questions. Dr. D works with clients to understand who they are, what is important to them, and how to overcome barriers, ultimately for the client to live the life that is meaningful and fulfilling to them. Dr. D specializes in working with adult clients who have experienced trauma, are neurodivergent, are feeling "stuck," and/or are looking to understand themselves better so they feel better.
Additionally, Dr. D has experience developing and overseeing a clinical training program of masters- and doctoral-level students in therapy and testing, as well as developing and streamlining business processes in a rapidly growing small business. Her familiarity with small business practices, combined with her expertise in working with people/relationships and assessment, provides Dr. D with the unique knowledge and experience needed to consult with businesses on their practices and human relations.
Dr. D grew up in the Pacific Northwest and completed her schooling in the beautiful state of Oregon, including a Bachelor of Science degree from Oregon State University, Master of Science degree degree from Pacific University, and Doctorate of Psychology degree from Pacific University. Her pre-doctoral internship was completed at Florida State Hospital, where she primarily completed forensic assessments. Dr. D went on to work at Boston's McLean Hospital for several years where she worked as a staff psychologist at the Center of Neurodevelopmental Services/Pathways Academy and was appointed Clinical Instructor at Harvard University. Here, Dr. D gained invaluable experience with detail-oriented and nuanced assessment and intervention related to interpersonal relationship and pragmatic skills, social skills coaching, sensory integration therapies, and treating the full range of neurodevelopmental disorders.
As a military spouse, Dr. D has found that moving every couple years requires her to become quickly flexible and adaptable in the mental health field. As such, she has maintained a small private practice of her own providing consultations, therapy, and a variety of coaching services to adolescents and adults over the years. She has held this practice in Massachusetts, Hawaii, and Washington DC. Along the way she has found value in joining group practices, to be a part of a team and contribute to business/organizational development in a variety of ways. She has worked with different sizes of organizations, from a start-up of one person to a small business of over 40 team members. She has assisted in developing a robust therapy intern training program and truly recognized her passion for training and supervising the next generation of competent and ethical therapists. She has overseen organizational development with a practice experiencing rapid growth. She led the establishment and streamlining of processes across the business, the development and implementation of new Human Resources support processes, and the management of daily clinical operations, as well as continuing to scale the business by networking with external organizations. In all of her business and leadership roles, of utmost importance to Dr. D was connecting with all levels of staff and fostering a culture of support and recognition.
Dr. DiVittore's favorite past times are traveling (particularly to places with rich histories or warm places with an ocean view!), exploring local venues and trying local restaurants, and spending time with her three cats.
